German jailed in Morocco for terror offences

A German national arrested on the Afghan-Pakistani border was Thursday sentenced to 10 years in jail for terrorism offences by a court in Morocco, a judicial source said.

“His name is Mohamed Hajib, and he was arrested in September 2009 on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. He was extradited to Germany, and then on the same day to Morocco,” said the source.

Morocco court jails man for heist

A court in Morocco has sentenced a cage fighter with British and Moroccan nationality to 10 years in jail for Britain’s biggest cash robbery carried out in 2006, a source said Wednesday.

Ibrahim Lee Murray, 32, was sentenced on Tuesday in the city of Sale on various charges including membership of a criminal gang, theft with an armed weapon, wearing an illegal uniform and kidnapping, the source said.

Morocco holds conference on future of abortion

Medical experts were joined Friday by jurists, religious leaders and politicians in a first major bid to discuss what to do about clandestine abortions and unwanted pregnancies in Morocco.

“Medical experts, religious figures, jurists and politicians of all sorts are participating,” said Chakif Chraibi, a professor of obstetric gynaecology and president of the Moroccan Association to Combat Clandestine Abortion (AMLAC), said on the sidelines of the two-day congress.
