Morocco will waive hard wheat custom duties for importers until the end of 2010, a senior government official said on Wednesday, after a near 30-percent drop in its grains harvest this year.
“Under the terms of the executive order number 2-10-529 of November 2010, (custom) tariffs on imports of hard wheat were cancelled for the period between November 9 and December 31,” the official said, reading from a government decree.
Morocco, among the world’s top 10 wheat importers, has also cancelled custom duty on soft wheat imports for the September 16-December 31, 2010 period.
